In the USA: "Why does the Russian fleet still make our admirals sweat?"
American military experts do not stop comparing the forces of the United States and Russia and analyze the combat capabilities of the Russian Federation in the event of a potential conflict. Resource 19fortyfive.com believes that the American admirals have "a lot of reasons to sweat" about the Russian fleet.
The Russian Navy has the ability to deploy globally, albeit on a much smaller scale than the US Navy. At the same time, the Russian Navy is steadily increasing the quality of maintenance, training and combat readiness, which is the result of modernization efforts. In addition, Moscow is building new surface ships and submarines.
Currently, the Russian Navy has about 130 personnel and 000 large surface ships, including one aircraft carrier, two nuclear-powered cruisers, several smaller cruisers, 32 destroyers and 12 frigates. The Russian fleet may also have a larger number of smaller ships: corvettes, minesweepers and patrol boats. Most importantly, in the Russian naval arsenal there are 11 submarines of different classes.
The American resource also draws attention to the fact that the Navy has the ability to equip its ships with 3M14 Caliber cruise missiles (conventional or nuclear), as well as to negate the advantages of the NATO fleet by small ships with subsonic and hypersonic missiles on board.
Thus, despite a number of shortcomings, the Russian navy remains a significant force and could pose a serious threat to the United States in the event of a direct military encounter.
Earlier, the American edition of The National Interest noted the efforts of the Russian military to provide the fleet with Poseidon unmanned torpedoes, which are not yet able to intercept NATO forces. Moscow plans to put 32 such underwater vehicles on alert, reaching speeds of up to 200 km / h. At the same time, "Poseidon" can be equipped with a homing system, which actually turns it into a large guided torpedo with a nuclear charge.
