New F-15EX US Air Force can defend itself and all aircraft around

American designers were able to equip the fighters with a protective system capable of neutralizing the action of enemy radars. According to Forbes magazine, such aircraft were the F-15EX, which received high-tech electronic warfare systems Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS), which can protect the carrier aircraft, as well as all nearby aircraft.

Two twin-engined F-15EXs from Test Squadrons 85 and 40 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida traveled to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada last week to test new aircraft with radar neutralization systems installed. The F-15EX will conduct a week of combat training missions alongside the F-15E Strike Eagle attack aircraft.

According to F-15EX test pilot Major Kevin Hand, the EX modification with the EPAWSS electronic warfare system, a high-tech "jammer" with 360-degree coverage, created by BAE Systems, dramatically increases the chance to defend against the latest air defense radars. The US Air Force plans to acquire 150 new F-15EXs with EPAWSS to be built at the St. Louis aircraft plant.

In May, two fighters with these electronic warfare systems took part in exercises in Alaska Northern Edge 2021. The media do not have the results of these maneuvers, but Forbes notes that testing the EPAWSS system on the latest American fighter was a big step in ensuring the safety and protection of aviation.
