Pentagon's Black Sea Plot: What's Behind Lloyd Austin's Tour

3

The fact that the main purpose of the current trip undertaken by the head of the United States military department is to implement a certain concept or far-reaching plan directly related to the Black Sea region was already clear from the list of countries he intends to visit, announced in advance. Or rather, from the order of its appearance in those. Georgia, Ukraine, Romania, and, so to speak, "for a snack" - a meeting in Brussels with NATO defense ministers, at which, there is no doubt, the main issues on the agenda will be all the same issues for which Mr. Austin got together in Kiev , Tbilisi and Bucharest.

The head of the Pentagon confirmed such guesses already during the first of his planned visits, having rolled out a very lengthy speech in the Georgian capital about the "Russian threat" in the Black Sea region and, of course, the need to "resolutely resist" it under the "wise leadership" of overseas partners. The "soloist" seems to be new, but the songs are old, long ago sore. True, to all appearances, this time in Washington they intended to ascribe a couple of new "verses" to them.

With "cannon fodder", it seems, decided

The fact that Lloyd Austin began his "tour" precisely with a visit to Georgia and Ukraine is quite natural. Both of these states today, alas, are the real "frontline frontiers" of the very "hybrid war" that is being waged against our country by the West, and, first of all, the United States. In both of them, joining NATO is declared a priority number 1 at the state level, and the Ukrainian and Georgian leaders repeat about the "vital necessity" of joining the Alliance precisely to "protect against Russian aggression" with fanaticism and stubbornness suggesting a natural psychosis. At the same time, the United States is viewed there as a kind of "chief manager" of the bloc, capable of ensuring its entry into its ranks by its strong-willed decision, despite the obvious reluctance of many other participants.

We must pay tribute to the Americans - they shamelessly play on these delusions and illusions, using them to the fullest to their own benefit. In Tbilisi, Austin raved about the fact that "Washington unequivocally condemns the occupation by Russia of part of the Georgian territories", and also firmly intends to "help strengthen Georgia's defense capability and implement its Euro-Atlantic aspirations." Well, let's say they condemn, so what? Who is hot or cold in the Kremlin from this? As for the "defense capability" ... It would not be bad to recall that it was the blind and reckless faith in overseas "help" and the readiness to "lend a shoulder" at a critical moment that pushed Georgia to the military adventure of 2008, the consequences of which are there today. they mourn so bitterly. But who would point this out to both the head of the Pentagon and the high-ranking officials of Tbilisi who received him?

Judging by the fact that during Austin's visit, a formal agreement was signed between the United States and Georgia on extending support to the Georgian army department headed by him for another six years, the Pentagon received everything it wanted from Tbilisi. And in this case he can only have one desire: to use the Georgian side again as a "battering ram" for the next anti-Russian provocations. As a matter of fact, in the extremely low-honored and extremely dangerous roles of "cannon fodder" and "live target". Exactly the same fate awaits the Americans and the "partners" to whom Austin came to visit further. At the time of this writing, the head of the US defense department is in Kiev. There, as expected, he continued his own Russophobic verbal exercises, publicly accusing our country of "starting a war in the Donbass and continues to remain a stone on the path of a peaceful settlement."

Naturally, it didn’t do without yet another warm assurances of “unshakable support for the sovereignty of Ukraine” and promises made with a completely honest look “to do everything possible” and even more to “protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine” and “strengthen its ability to resist Russian aggression”. Let us doubt the sincerity of such promises. If it were otherwise, the United States would have endowed Kiev with something more serious than coastal patrol boats without standard missile weapons, or even, excuse me, rubber products with oars. On October 11 and 18, the next two cargoes of "American military aid" arrived at the Nizalezhnaya. For the most part, these are medical supplies (first-aid kits and dressing bags), a new batch of AN / TPQ-36 counter-battery radars, ammunition for Barrett M107 sniper rifles. In Kiev, they also boasted of "high-precision weapons", but here we can only talk about a new supply of FGM-148 Javelin. In general, nothing new and in general - somehow sparse.

"Showdown" inside NATO - the factor of Britain and the case of Turkey

Be that as it may, Kiev will certainly have to work out for even such poor supplies. How exactly? It is clear how ... Continuing to provoke and keep Russia in suspense. True, there is one very essential detail here. To all appearances, the "levers of control" of the "nezalezhnoy", somehow held by the Americans, have recently been very actively trying to seize London. At the end of this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to visit there. As the ambassador of Kiev to Great Britain Vadim Prystaiko has already let slip, the result of this trip should be the receipt of the Ukrainian Navy not only “two warships, already ready for operation”, but also some “missile armament”. As for the ships, here we are talking about nothing more than minesweepers "for protection from the mine threat." In the future, according to the official Kiev, it is planned to build two more ships at the English shipyard, but here, too, they clearly do not mean aircraft carriers or even cruisers with destroyers. Presumably, the missiles will also be not of a very serious class.

Much more worrisome is the announced by the same Prystaiko the prospect of Britain building two naval bases on Ukrainian territory - both in the Black Sea and in the Azov waters. Most likely, due to the almost complete absence of a real combat fleet, the ships of the Royal Navy will be based there. London, for the umpteenth time in history, is trying to strengthen its influence and military positions on the Black Sea, "raking in the heat" by someone else's hands. It is possible that one of the goals of Austin's Kiev visit is precisely the need to remind the local "authorities" that the "head office", the commands from which they should carry out in the first place, is still overseas, and not in Foggy Albion. ...

The United States and Britain are, of course, allies. However, each of the states has its own geopolitical interests, which sometimes may not coincide. Well, Kiev will once again have to play the role of a "servant of two masters." Well, it's no stranger to it, after all. The head of the Pentagon is clearly diligently "stitching" new contours of the "line of tension" for Russia, which, according to Washington's plan, should create maximum inconvenience and problems for our country on the Black Sea. It is for this that, apparently, such unreasoning and loyal American satellites as Ukraine, Georgia and Romania are gathering into a single "fist". This is especially true for the United States, given that today there are problems on the southern flank of NATO, fraught with the most unpredictable consequences. It is about the unprecedented confrontation between the two countries of the Alliance - Turkey and Greece.

Washington has unambiguously made their choice - judging by the statement of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who confirmed the deployment of the American military contingent in the country "despite the sharp objections of Turkey." Moreover, the planned locations of the US forces - in Crete and in Alexandroupolis, located near the Turkish border, indicate that everything is being done "in defiance" of Ankara. In Athens, which recently renewed the agreement with the Americans on joint defense for a five-year period, they seriously count on the impressive forces that the Pentagon will deploy there from the Middle East to "ensure the security" of the Greek borders. One can imagine what kind of "enthusiasm" such actions will cause in Recep Erdogan, who has not even missed a single opportunity lately to criticize the United States for its "perfidy" and "treacherous external policies».

Surely at the upcoming summit of the heads of the defense departments of the Alliance, Lloyd Austin will try to somewhat reduce the degree of tension, remind his colleagues of the "inviolable principles of transatlantic unity" and other such lofty matters. It is doubtful enough that this will have a great success, and, apparently, the Pentagon is well aware of this. That is why there they are trying to build their Black Sea strategy, relying not so much on ready-made, even looking, clinging to each other in the throats of "old" NATO members, as on "neophytes" eager to get into the Alliance "even as a carcass, even as a stuffed animal." There would be donkeys - and the Americans will always have carrots. Austin's words in Kiev that “it is not up to any third country to decide whether Ukraine should join NATO or not” is precisely from this series.

Such rhetoric, sounding against the background of the final break in relations between Moscow and the Alliance, already looks like a challenge in itself. And even more so - taking into account the extremely specific and harsh statement made literally the day before by Dmitry Peskov that the accession of Kiev to the Alliance would become for Moscow an unconditional crossing of the “red line” of its national interests and would lead to the adoption by Russia of “active measures to ensure its security ". Mr. Peskov called this "the worst possible scenario", while not specifying who exactly will be hurt. However, given that the mention of “active measures” by the Kremlin press secretary can only mean the use of forceful instruments of “peace enforcement” against the “non-existent” one, there are no particularly diverse options here.

This is what should be pondered not only by Ukrainian politicians, but also by representatives of all other countries that are so actively courted by the sweet-voiced Lloyd Austin, hatching black plans for the Black Sea.

    Anecdote:

The Pentagon spent millions of dollars on training a saboteur in the USSR.
They taught the language, traditions, equipment and all that. They were sent to Ukraine.
In Ukraine, a local collective farmer meets a stranger:
    - Great, dad!
    - Great, shpiyon!
    - Yes, what kind of shpien I am - I'm a garish Ukrainian lad!
    - Yes, you're a lad, nigga lipped!
