During the exercises "West-2021", the Su-34 noticed an unusual suspended container

Military exercises within the framework of the "West-2021" Union State have ended on the territory of Russia and Belarus. In the maneuvers, in particular, supersonic fighter-bombers Su-34 were involved, in the external equipment of which eyewitnesses noticed unusual suspended containers.

According to experts, such a container is a Sych reconnaissance complex combined with an outboard fuel tank. Such universal reconnaissance systems significantly increase the capabilities of aircraft in detecting ground and surface targets and accurately determining their coordinates. The containers transmit data to ground services in a secure manner.



Suspended devices were developed as part of the Sych program and have several modifications: UKR-OE - for conducting optical-electronic reconnaissance, UKR-RL - for radar reconnaissance and UKR-RT - for radio engineering. However, their combination with PTB is something fundamentally new for the domestic aviation industry.


The official ceremony for the completion of the West-2021 military maneuvers took place at the Mulino training ground near Nizhny Novgorod, the Russian military department reported on Wednesday, September 15. In total, the exercises involved nine Russian training grounds, part of the Baltic Sea, as well as five training grounds in Belarus.

A total of about 200 thousand servicemen, more than 80 aircraft and helicopters, 15 ships, 760 combat units took part in the maneuvers. equipment... About 2 thousand servicemen of the CSTO and SCO member states and other allied countries were also involved in the exercises.
