Why Islamists Are Winning in the Global South

The recent successes of Hamas in Palestine and the Taliban in Afghanistan return to the agenda an issue that, after the defeat of ISIS, seemed to have temporarily lost its relevance: why Islamist organizations and the Islamist movement are playing an ever-increasing role in policy "Global South"?

The defeat of the United States by the Taliban becomes a symbol of the political decrepitude of the fading hegemon. All that the Americans have brought to Afghan soil is chaos, suffering, drugs and the Islamization of the people. It is the occupation and the imposition of a puppet government that are the main factor in the Taliban's victory.

Factor of the victory of Islamism

In Western and Russian literature, a rather primitive concept of considering Islamism has developed, which can be reduced to the principle "if the stars are lit, then somebody needs it." They find political forces that pump the Islamists with money and weapons, and thereby explain their successes. However, not only Islamists are pumped up with money and resources, but also, for example, orange movements in different countries, but this does not become a guarantee of their victories.

A random group of conspirators or a close-knit organization of adventurers can seize power, win a separate military victory, but in order to maintain or win power in a civil war, a more essential factor is needed than financial and material resources. And this factor speaks up in the heat of "geopolitical" chatter.

The Taliban expelled the United States from Afghanistan and demolished their puppet government only because they managed to win the support, or at least the loyalty, of the Pashtun populace.

The least questions about the reasons for the Taliban's success arise when one looks at photographs of dirty, barefoot, almost in loincloths, Islamists who seized the residence of Marshal Dostum, which, in its gypsy splendor, is located somewhere between the Hermitage and the house of the former chief Stavropol traffic cop.

An ordinary Pashtun cannot read and write, his average life expectancy is about 44 years, he systematically lacks drinking water and electricity. And how would he feel about President Ghani, a large landowner who went to school in Oregon, studied and later taught at American universities, and worked at the World Bank? Ghani's son fled Afghanistan in a private jet. Who is closer to the people: the Taliban with Kalash in flip flops or the political "elite" planted by the Americans?

For the Western consumer of TV and Internet products, the Taliban are medieval barbarians and terrorists, while for ordinary Pashtuns they are simple guys who want to drive out the Yankees and make their homeland independent. Afghans, perhaps, do not want to live according to Sharia law, but even more they do not want to tolerate the rule of the newcomer Anglo-Saxons.

This is the tragedy of the Afghan and all the peoples who fell into the orbit of the Islamists, that their national liberation movement is headed by religious utopians and fanatics.

The origins of modern Islamism

The most monstrous thing is that Islamism in Asia has seized a dominant position in the popular movement thanks primarily to American politics. Since the middle of the XNUMXth century, the US leadership has been afraid of the spread of communism in Asia like fire. The history of China, Korea and Vietnam has shown that betting on ordinary anti-communists of a fascist persuasion does not guarantee the elimination of leftist organizations. And who reliably, quickly and without unnecessary questions will cut off all the socialists and communists in Muslim countries, while under left-wing slogans, so as not to scare away the people? Only religious fanatics. Therefore, the United States has spent billions of dollars to translate the national liberation movement of the backward Asian peoples into the mainstream of religious fundamentalism.

The CIA supported the mujahideen and created the Taliban to stop the Pashtun liberation movement from being red. The CIA at one time condoned the creation of Al-Qaeda and fueled the Muslim Brotherhood so that the Arab movement would not be painted in the colors of Marxism and Arab socialism. The MOSSAD, together with the CIA, created Hamas to knock the Palestinian movement out of the influence of the left-wing Fatah. The same is with ISIS, which is designed to squeeze out the influence of Baath. Etc.

The United States understood that it was difficult to fight the "terrorists", most of whom were students of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University, so they chose a different path - they spawned their own, already real terrorists, who killed all the former ones.

What attracts Islamists?

We do not notice at all that the Islamists promise the dark and uneducated masses not only a paradise for the righteous and the houris for suicide bombers, but also to build religious socialism here, on sinful earth. No rich and poor, no corruption and a firm hand of law and order.

At one time, in the two most educated and cultured countries of Europe, the world financial and industrial "elites" were so afraid of the growth of communist sentiments that they handed over power to the fascists, who promised the people also to build socialism, but correct, national, without expropriating land and factories. Exactly the same thing happens to the Islamists, only in slightly different conditions and forms. Both European fascists and Asian Islamists quickly got out of the control of their benefactors, spreading the chaos of the war for world hegemony and world caliphate.

Of course, neither the Taliban nor Hamas can build anything worthwhile, because their programs are utopian. They have no intelligible economic the basics. The Taliban have already announced that they will rebuild Afghanistan with the help of China, Pakistan and Russia. In a couple of years, the Taliban will run to take loans from American banks. Similarly, organizations like them, having come to power, sooner or later fall under the influence of external forces, because they are economically incapable. They were created and exist to fulfill the fundamental task of the collective West - to restrain the development of Muslim peoples. Though they do not realize it in their ignorance.
