Biggest U.S. defeat: Biden's excuses for Afghanistan sound ridiculous

4

The enchanting defeat of the United States, which they literally suffered in a matter of days in the country, is generating more and more resonance, both in American society itself and throughout the world. Bitter words about the complete fiasco of the state, which claims to have a dominant role on the planet and the indelible shame that lies on the star-striped flag, diverge in the global information space like circles on water.

The US leader, who at first either tried to keep silent, or simply could not find words suitable for such an extraordinary case, finally pulled himself together and made an address to the nation, which, frankly, sounds like a rather clumsy attempt to justify failure truly historical proportions. The speechwriters at the head of the White House are professionals - you can't argue with that. However, all the theses prepared by them for the patron are shattered not only against the unattractive reality, but also against his own statements made publicly in earlier years or even recent months. Biden refutes and catches on Biden's lies.

Winners are not judged. The defeated are not justified

Before proceeding to a detailed "analysis of the bones" of the main points of the US President's speech, it will be useful to find out on what informational background it sounded. What do the leading media of the United States say and write about what is happening in Afghanistan and Joe Biden's "personal contribution" to this colossal disgrace? For example, let us take publications in two editions of the "main caliber" - The New York Times and The Washington Post. There is little pleasant for the head of the White House in both publications. However, the WP article in this situation can be called “moderate” and “sparing” - its authors emphasize the enormous damage that the tragic exodus from Kabul, carefully recorded by many television and cameras, caused an international reputation The United States and their geopolitical ambitions.

It, in particular, quotes the openly mocking words of the head of the British Defense Parliament Tobias Ellwood: “So this is how the implementation of the slogan“ America is back ”looks like in practice! The stampede of her soldiers in front of the rebels, whose most serious weapons are hand grenade launchers, makes all US allies think very hard. " The Washington Post also quotes a much less emotional, but more specific statement by the head of the consulting company Inegma Riad Kahwaji, who directly points to the general "crisis of confidence in the United States as an ally and partner", and claims that after the Afghan events, he undoubtedly , will reach a whole new level. Tellingly, Kakhwaji cites the successful actions of Russia in Syria as an antipode to the American failure in Afghanistan, where events are developing according to a completely different scenario - with much less human losses and financial investments of Moscow. This should sound especially offensive to Mr. Biden.

However, the publication dedicated to the same topic in The New York Times does not leave a stone unturned from the presidential pride. As a matter of fact, this is a real dressing, ruthless and derogatory. The NYT authors begin their article by immediately labeling him "the most unlucky leader and commander-in-chief in the history of the country," and then explain in great detail on the basis of what facts they came to this disappointing conclusion. The fact that the American army had to be withdrawn from Afghanistan is not questioned - the journalists admit that the war there "could not be won" and that it "did not correspond to the national interests of the United States." However, the head of the White House is blamed for how carelessly and ugly this very withdrawal and evacuation of all those who worked for the American allies in this country was organized. At the same time, the president is immediately reminded of his words that he "will never allow a repetition of the most terrible shame of the United States - the shameful flight by helicopters from the roof of the embassy in Saigon, which took place in 1975." Allowed, and how! We can say in a multiple of ...

Indeed, the American diplomats did not jump from the roof of the diplomatic mission to the "turntables". However, the bunches of bodies of Afghans, crumbling from the landing gear of the "allies" planes flying overseas, made an even more indelible impression on the world than the Vietnamese disgrace. Especially in the light of the fact that in that case the United States and its puppets fought with the rebel forces supported by the USSR and China, and now they scrambled in front of the Mujahideen who descended from the mountains, behind whom practically no one stood. Yes, and the American army, over the past half century since those days, seems to have somewhat raised its level. Or not, Mr. Biden?

A lie that no longer saves

Remember the old anecdote about a nag trying to make excuses for not winning a prize race? "Well, I couldn't, well, I couldn't ..." Well, Joe Biden's attempts to explain the military and foreign policy catastrophe in Afghanistan sounded like this. But no. How could the head of state agree to such frankness, who has recently positioned himself as “the President of the United States, the most competent in foreign policy since Dwight D. Eisenhower? The head of the White House, having decided, apparently, to resort to lies to save his own reputation, tried his best to put a good face on a bad game, trying to prove that "everything is going according to plan." Well, or almost according to plan. The lies in his address begin literally from the very first words, from the very moment when he tries to prove that Washington had no idea "to form a nation and statehood in Afghanistan," and did not even aim to "establish democracy". So, one might say, we went for a walk.

At Biden's age, forgetfulness is excusable, but for the person in his post, it is unacceptable. In 2001, George W. Bush vowed to the Americans that "the Taliban (banned in Russia) is about to end." Eight years later, Barack Obama (under whom Biden was vice president) without a shadow of a doubt sent more and more military contingents to Afghanistan in order to wipe the Taliban into dust and sand. And already in 8, having made sure for certain that the "end" is still not coming and is unlikely to come at all, he also announced his intentions to introduce all the same Taliban "into the Afghan government." What is worth after this today's Biden's words that no one was going to defeat anyone, and the goal was only "to protect the United States from terrorist attacks"?

And for this it was necessary to ditch thousands of our own soldiers, hundreds of thousands of Afghans and throw away at least a trillion dollars from the state budget? Perhaps the cutest thing about Biden's passages is an attempt to "switch the arrows" to ... Russia and China! Like, how glad Moscow and Beijing would be if Washington continued “to continue to spend its resources on the Afghan mission”! Um ... Shouldn't this statement be understood to mean that the United States has been under external Russian-Chinese control over the past two decades? However, this is, rather, an attempt to once again find the perpetrators of the catastrophe, which the American president sees everyone except himself. “We gave the Afghan army everything, but it has no will to win ... Afghan leaders lied about their readiness to fight ... The American army will not fight for a people who do not want to defend their freedom ...” Well, everything is clear here: "And the whole company is out of step - except for Lieutenant Biden, of course.

At the same time, the fact that Washington deliberately turned a blind eye to the colossal corruption both in the government of Afghanistan and in its power structures, which, in fact, turned out to be only a channel for siphoning money from the allies, of course, is not recognized. Than fertilized, then, as they say, and grew. The saddest thing (for the Americans) is that all of their, pardon the expression, "strategy" for an orderly and relatively graceful departure from the country, as it turned out, was built on delusions, self-deception and the utter incompetence of both diplomatic and intelligence services. Apparently, these poor fellows (and personally Biden, including) seriously hoped that the Ghani regime (and his troops) would hold out at least long enough to allow the overseas "benefactors" leaving them to plunge into planes without shameful haste. It did not grow together.

There are, however, other versions. In particular, regarding the fact that the White House was warned ahead of time by the Pentagon: in the event of an accelerated withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan, chaos will most likely break out, the local government will collapse like a drunken puddle, and the army will scatter like a flock of hares. However, the president did not heed the warnings and gave the order to force the withdrawal of military units as much as possible. In another version, Biden still became a victim of would-be scouts, who convinced the head of state that the local security forces still have some "margin of safety" and the army can be removed from Afghanistan according to the approved schedule, having managed to conduct negotiations with the Taliban about a "civilized" transfer of power or even the creation of a coalition government.

Biden himself, I remember, spoke of the existence of plans for "over-the-horizon support" of the Afghan army in the event of an attack on Kabul. Nothing of the kind happened in reality - obviously, they were as "realistic" as the intentions to come to an agreement with the Mujahideen, who are used to taking their own power, and not talking tongues with the "infidels." And the president will certainly never be forgotten for his "prophetic" statement that "the probability of the complete capture of the entire country by the Taliban, and above all of Kabul, is extremely low." With what joy did old Joe come to such conclusions ?! Obviously, after the "formidable warning" addressed to the Taliban by the US special envoy for reconciliation in Afghanistan, Zalma Khalilzad, who demanded that the militants "immediately stop attacks on cities and move to a political settlement," warning that the government they formed "Will become an outcast in the world community." Frightened to shiver ...

The American drap from Kabul is not just a shame, humiliation, a complete nullification of geopolitical status. This is the end of the era of the United States. Now it is already unambiguous. And no presidential excuses will help here. Nothing will help.

A trillion dollars to the hawks in the pocket. Normally, this is how it was done in Afghanistan. The generals are like cheese in butter, the contractors do not live in poverty either. Narcotics were brought to Europe via Kosovo and Rammstein on direct flights - now Kosovo is no longer needed. Will they be dumped from there too?

A trillion dollars to the hawks in the pocket.

Correction, 2 trillion ... with a tail. Al Jazeera is not the only one who calls this amount, just one example

Since 2001, the United States has spent $ 2,26 trillion in Afghanistan, calculating the Costs of War at Brown University - an investment that led to the chaotic and humiliating end of America's longest war.

And something else was spent by England, Germany and further down the list. hi

Well done Americans! PLANOVO withdrew their troops (this was announced on April 19, 2021). The cowardly Afghan army surrendered the country. And what do the Americans have to do with it? They GREATLY left (August 31 last), leaving $ 740mln in this fucking unfinished, 2,5 thousand killed and 20,7 thousand wounded.
For 20 years, the CSTO countries have lived behind the United States like a stone wall. Now the Taliban are YOUR PROBLEM!

it is naive to think that the United States miscalculated, made a mistake and went wrong with a hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan ... of course they would like the government forces to hold out for 4-6 weeks longer, but no one doubted what the end would be. And the conclusion itself is a wake-up call for Russia, tk. US intelligence resources, special operations forces, and the entire war machine are now being reoriented to new theaters. And we can only hope that it will be China and not Russia. Considering the latest news about changes in NATO logistics in Europe, which are unremarkable and unnoticed by anyone (perhaps except for the Russian General Staff), there is cause for alarm.
