Like four Moscow regions: The area of forest fires in the Russian Federation can set an absolute record

7

The true scale of forest fires in Russia has become known. According to Greenpeace Russia, from January 1 to August 10, an impressive area of Siberia - 16,451 million hectares, or 164,5 thousand km², has burned out or continues to burn, which is comparable to almost four Moscow regions.

So far, this is the second-largest sad indicator in this century after what happened in 2012, but the rate of spread of fire could set an absolute record in 2021. Smoke from conflagrations got even to the North Pole, which is 3 thousand km.

The branch of the international environmental NGO clarified that the day before the area of forest fires in the Russian Federation expanded by 0,4 million hectares in just a day, which is equal to the total area of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Yakutia suffers the most, where 323 active fires were counted, the largest of which is 1,3 million hectares, which is almost comparable to the Kaliningrad region.

A field group of the Volunteer Public Association "People of the Forest", located in the Angara region, told Greenpeace Russia that most of the new fires occurred in legal logging, where felling residues are burned in clearings. in places not associated with "black lumberjacks".

It is more profitable for loggers to burn the remnants of the felled forest than to clear the felling area in other ways or recycle this waste. A tourniquet with violations - at the wrong time, not observing fire safety rules. Fires often leave logging sites over huge areas and then burn until autumn

- reports Greenpeace Russia the words "People of the Forest".

Greenpeace Russia believes that it is possible to influence the situation right now by prohibiting the burning of felling residues and strengthening the supervision of the forest guard. The NGO recalled that forest fires are a serious source of greenhouse gases and soot, and suggested that the Russian government switch to the Green Deal, a program that should improve the situation with fires in Russia.

Non-profit organizations simply broadcast rumors why, using the funds that they receive, they do not conduct an investigation, identify the places of fire, the places of felling of legal organizations and, on the basis of this information, analyze who could be the source of the fire. Or conduct a real investigation with the departure (departure) to the site. True, in this case, it may turn out that these are not legal cutters, but someone or something else. But who needs it, it is better to blame someone unfounded and continue to receive grants.

analyze who could be the source of the fire

About a month ago, having lunch with "Russia-24", I watched the analyzer of one of the command personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, his face barely fit on the TV. So he, the boss, did not need any investigations - in everything he, you know, the conscious arsonists were to blame. Pyromaniacs. lol Work him, not too high, but the boss, you panic, is forced. Go to planning meetings from morning till night, pests. And today, having supper behind the same canal, it turned out that there are not enough people in the woods for linemen and paratroopers-paratroopers. That is, they indirectly admitted that they went too far with reductions in forestry under Medvedev. They even calculated how many people (thousands) and money (billions) are needed. However, I will not be surprised if in October and for the next stable five-year period this is again "forgotten" Yes

So it was announced long ago:

Greenpeace is an agent of the west.
Let the activists watch the forests at their own expense.
"Ours" used to go out to rehearse extinguishing in the smoke, but now they were dismissed too, the money ran out.

Decide to see what happened to your neighbors on the globe ...
    USA.
Tellingly, not the absent foresters and firefighters are to blame, but ... climatic changes. This is over the past year ...

Climate change was a major cause of unprecedented wildfires that wreaked havoc on and ravaged the western United States during the 2020 fire season.

This is fresh, from the same place (long link) And again the climate ...

Traces of climate change are found in the 2021 fire season, which threatens to be even more devastating than the record 2020 season.

Italy and Greece on fire. Global warming is to blame.

As UN experts said on Monday that global warming is coming faster than anticipated and that humanity is "clearly" to blame

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/09/wildfires-rage-greece-italy-eu-mounts-firefighting-operation-evacuations-destruction-southern-europe

Canada is ablaze, climate change is to blame.

more than double the 20-year average
Environmentalists have long warned that Canada's vast northern forest is becoming drier and more flammable, but few expected the fire season to be as explosive as this, or focused on the extent to which climate change would bring California-scale fire hazards to northern Canada. ...

I have nothing against increasing the number of foresters, just answer - do we live on the same planet with them? Why do they have a drought and a climate, while our Forest Code is to blame?

I have nothing against increasing the number of foresters,

So, it seems that no one has anything against it, but for 1 forester in Siberia there are more than 50 thousand hectares. - It's like a medium-sized nature reserve in Europe.

To begin with, it is good to decide how much is needed. What is the norm? Can it be substantiated by scientific methods or are there references to positive foreign experience? A simple comparison, say, in Soviet times, probably does not make sense. I wonder what the "density of foresters per hectare", say, in Canada (climatic conditions and scales are similar).
For example, I'm not sure that a forester should be under every tree. Is that why there should be a lot of them? And in general it is not clear how much it is. The main thing is that it would be more than under the USSR? And the forests did not burn then?
If this is for control, then it is probably wiser to improve the technical equipment. The drone can fly around these 50 thousand hectares regularly, the forester will not be able to rush for a long time, he will probably get tired.
Well, as before about the causes of the fires .... So we live on the same planet with the Italians and Canadians? They talk about the causes of fires - drought, climate change. And only in our country the absence of foresters is to blame. In my opinion, this is more of a policy than a concern for the forest.

The demshiz has done a good job, we are going to records ... But not everything has been burned until the converters of bad Soviet forest management, there are prospects ...
