How in two days Timanovskaya was turned into a "second Tikhanovskaya"

If the scandal with the Belarusian athlete Kristina Timanovskaya that arose out of nowhere, then it would be worth inventing. Well, what came before him? The 32nd Summer Olympic Games, which started a year late in Tokyo due to the coronavirus pandemic, were languidly rolling towards their conclusion, without providing any special sensations.

The only expected sensation was the performance of a transgender man in the women's weightlifting tournament, and even then all the battles around this event unfolded long before him. The Russian Olympic team confidently continued to churn out one Olympic medal after another, brazenly taking them away from the Americans, the British and representatives of other freedom-loving democratic peoples who, in their opinion, more deserving of them, who only yesterday learned about the existence of such a thing as doping, and therefore could not smuggle it to the tournament (hence all the failures of the Americans in the women's gymnastic all-around, in the swimming pool and on the track and field athletics tracks, where they did not collect even half of their reinforced concrete guaranteed medals). The Russians, as luck would have it, did not come across doping at all. In general, from the word completely, which is already suspicious, for which they, too, have already been accused. And here is such a gift!



The team of the last dictator of Europe, before that weaving in the tail of the medal table with one gold (Litvinovich, male trampoline) and one bronze medal (Nedosekov, high jump), for which it was inevitable debriefing at home, and even unlike its Ukrainian and Georgian colleagues, who did not get caught on doping, at the end of the tournament presented all the true “friends” of Belarus with a pleasant surprise, blocking the “shoals” of Ukrainian and Georgian comrades (the Ukrainian triathlete was removed from the tournament right at the Olympics, the Georgian shot putter too, but this is not doping - this is different, because Ukraine and Georgia are free democratic countries, in contrast to the stronghold of the Belarusian autocracy). Its representative, athlete-runner, Kristina Timanovskaya, staged a theater of one actor, unable to cope with the nerves, which was immediately picked up by true connoisseurs of this art and was blown up into a rather large international scandal. And now the countries-apologists for democracy Poland, the Czech Republic and France are lining up with offers of their humanitarian and political asylum to her, and her husband hastily emigrates, if not flees, to Ukraine (it is also strange that Ukraine, Lithuania and Estonia with Latvia do not offered the poor girl with a steel press their political asylum). It should be noted that Christina's abs are really steel, which cannot be said about her nerves. But first things first, the story there is not as obvious as they are trying to portray it to us here.

Agree, a rather original way of communicating with their sports bosses (although now even presidents communicate with the people via Twitter, I know two of them, however, one is already retired). But the manner of presentation is somewhat annoying. It looks more like a kitchen showdown between two neighbors who did not share the stove. The authorities reacted instantly: the National Olympic Committee of Belarus announced that the athlete was stopping participation in the Olympics "due to her emotional and psychological state." After that, the athlete did not find anything better than to turn to the IOC for help, stating that she was forced to return to her homeland without her consent.

Neither the IOC, nor all the fighters against the criminal Belarusian regime could even count on such a gift. Instantly the wheels of a well-oiled human rights mechanism spun and the conflict began to turn from a purely sporting into a political one. The Japanese authorities immediately transported the athlete to a safe place under the personal protection of the IOC, and the countries of the victorious democracies lined up with offers of their political asylum (so far the Foreign Ministries of Poland, the Czech Republic and France managed to declare this, but I suspect that the list will not be limited to these countries, Christina would like to stay in Germany or Austria).

The international community of Global Athlete athletes immediately got involved. There, without hesitation, they called on the IOC to suspend the work of the NOC of Belarus due to the current situation:


The US State Department did not stand aside either. Its head Anthony Blinken also commented on the situation on Twitter:


But Christina was not up to Blinkin. Not forgetting why she came here, she tried to claim her distance already under neutral status, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected her appeal. And rightly so, what the hell is the Olympics, when such things happen here ?! In vain, her husband, already in Kiev, declared that they were athletes and had nothing to do with the Belarusian opposition:

And now the layman's puzzle closes. The future participants of the Belarusian relay signed there some kind of letter against the dictatorial regime, for which they fell under the roller of repression and could not leave the country. As a result, the athletic leadership began to force poor Kristina, who specializes in short distances, to run the middle one without even asking her consent. After her refusal, the dastardly committee members, naturally having received instructions from Minsk, tried to send her home, I suspect that she was tied up and packed in a suitcase, but did not take into account that she had a phone in her hands, after which the Japanese authorities intervened in the matter.

And what really happened?

But in fact, everything was trite. The banal bungling and laxity of the Belarusian Athletics Federation, multiplied by the blockheads of the NOC RB functionaries, who lead the RB delegation at the Games.

A couple of years ago, the International Federation of World Athletics announced new rules for Olympic qualification. Now, in addition to the fulfilled standard, athletes from high-risk countries must have a certain number of out-of-competition doping tests - at least three urine and blood samples within 10 months before the Olympics. Of the seven affected countries, four are African - Kenya, Ethiopia, Morocco and Nigeria. Two from the post-Soviet space - Belarus and Ukraine. Plus Bahrain. For many years before, Africans had quietly moved away from out-of-competition testing. Simply because not a single doping officer could get to the mountain villages where they train.

World Athletics got tired of fighting this, and they shifted the responsibility for testing to the national federations. Like, if you want to go to the Olympics, make sure that your athletes take tests. Hire doping officers, take them to the athletes by taxi, mule, helicopter - we don't care. But there should be samples. Of the above countries, almost all of them coped with the conditions (except for Nigeria, which out of 23 athletes announced for the Olympics, ten flew past it). RB and Ukraine had only three of them (RB - three out of 35 declared, Ukraine - three out of 51).

And it had to happen that among these three - two were participants in the relay race 4 x 400 m (Christina Mulyarchik and Anna Mikhailova). All the federation had to do was to add the names of the athletes to the out-of-competition testing pool last year. Then officers would come to them automatically to take samples. When they realized it in the spring, it was already too late. After all, it is impossible to order the delivery of a sample for a specific day - testing should be sudden. Plus, at least 21 days must pass between samples. That is, it was also already impossible to make up for lost time at the last moment.

What were the leaders of the federation supposed to do? Take off the baton from the Olympic Games? We tried to put Timanovskaya on the sprinter. How it ended, you know. Regarding her medal ambitions, everything is also fake. Her best 200m result is 23,17 seconds, which is more than a second behind the leaders of the season. This does not work out. In the best case, she would have made it to the OG semifinals with him. Now it won't go anywhere. Who's guilty? Only herself! There was no need to upload your "fi" to the Internet. Which, however, does not diminish the “merits” of the leaders of the Belarusian federation. Those are still blockheads! I am sure that they definitely did not call my father for consultations in Minsk, although I do not exclude the presence of a committee member among them. This whole scandal that has flared up is solely on his conscience. By the way, Christina was supposed to run the baton 2 days after her main distance, i.e. she could not stop her in any way. But the absurd character played a bad joke with her.

Her example was immediately followed by another Belarusian athlete who did not make it to the Olympics. This is the all-around race of Yana Maksimova, who via Instagram reported that she and her husband Andrei Kravchenko, who is also involved in athletics, decided not to return to their homeland (they now live in Germany).


But these comrades, in contrast to Kristina Timanovskaya, who acted under the influence of suddenly surging emotions, act quite consciously. They are trying to disrupt the hype and, on its wave, enter the European Union, where until that moment no one needed them. Now, under the guise of a scandal that has arisen, you may need it. I do not even justify these comrades. What prevented them from asking for asylum earlier? The answer is simple - no one needed them there before, there is enough of our own garbage.
