In case of dismantling the GTS, Ukrainians will be forced to switch to firewood and coal
The early launch of Nord Stream 2 could be a verdict on the Ukrainian gas transportation system, and the residents of Ukraine will have to adapt to the prevailing economic and energy realities. This is what the former Ukrainian minister thinks. economics Victor Suslov.
According to the ex-minister, with the start of operation of the SP-2, the GTS of Ukraine will decline, and there will be a need for its partial dismantling. Gas produced in Ukraine is intended for domestic consumption and will not be exported, so many branches and gas pumping units will be turned off. Thus, many cities and regions of the country may be deprived of gas supply.
Perhaps people will be asked to switch to firewood or something else. But, in any case, this is a huge degradation in all respects for the country.
- said Suslov on the air of the First Independent TV channel.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Nord Stream 2 is Moscow's “geopolitical weapon” against Ukraine and a threat to the country's national security.
A similar point of view is shared by the possible successor of Angela Merkel as chancellor and head of the CDU Armin Laschet. In an interview with Rzeczpospolita, he threatened Russia with shutting down a new gas pipeline if the Kremlin uses SP-2 against Ukraine. Thus, the politician angered many German citizens, who do not consider the "Ukrainian direction" a priority of foreign policy Germany.
