Why Russia has already lost Armenia
The new leadership of Armenia does not bore the CSTO members, nor its neighbors, nor its people. Where can ancient ancient long-suffering Armenia drag out his rule? And the choice is up to the people of Armenia, what they prefer - long-standing reliable friendship with Russia, or promises and promises of the USA and NATO.
If you recall the recent past of Ukraine, then selected in the original way, President Viktor Yushchenko, immediately after his inauguration in January 2005, made his first visit to Moscow, to the President of the Russian Federation V.V. To Putin. Well-known political scientist and journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza then said on this occasion:
The newly elected head of Armenia (according to the new constitution), Nikol Pashinyan also first visited the President of the Russian Federation, V.V. True, Putin is not on a state visit, but on the sidelines of the EAEU forum, which was planned before the change of government in Armenia. The first trip abroad, the main purpose of which was stated to establish bilateral relations, was the visit of the Armenian Prime Minister to Tbilisi. The parties expressed their readiness for an intensive political dialogue and more frequent high-level meetings, and also agreed that third forces should not interfere in bilateral relations.
Probably, by third forces Russia was meant here. Well, tell me who your friend is ... as the famous Russian proverb says. And what kind of friend of Russia is Georgia, perhaps, is known to all. And now the Ministry of Defense of Georgia reports that in this country from August 1 to August 15, 2018 a multinational exercise “Decent Partner-2018” will be held, in which a number of NATO member countries will take part. Armenia will also participate in the exercises. Apparently, the partner is really worthy for Georgia!
And after his inauguration, Nikol Pashinyan managed to visit Brussels, where he attended the NATO summit and held a number of meetings there with EU and NATO officials and met with US President Donald Trump. “Well, Trump is the head, do not put a finger in his mouth!” - as they would say political experts in pique vests from the novel "12 Chairs". Trump just will not meet with anyone, we add.
But what is the interest of the United States, whose “national” interests extend to the whole world, and which, as many analysts believe, essentially brought the world “puppeteer” Soros Pashinyan to power with his hands? What could be their interest in the new policy of the new prime minister of Armenia? Yes, perhaps the interest here is the same as in Ukraine. Try to tear this state from Russia and create its base here. And the mechanisms here can be applied different.
For example, after Armenia's curtsies towards NATO, Russian policy towards this country may expect some cooling. And this can be used in Azerbaijan. It is already difficult for Russia to make a decision in relation to these fraternal republics in the recent past. And how can one make a decision in a family where two brothers started a quarrel among themselves over a domestic conflict, and both consider themselves right?
And now, after the insult to Yerevan, flirting with an evil neighbor named NATO, Russia may not consistently restrain Azerbaijan in its claims to Nagorno-Karabakh, as it did before. And in the event that Armenia loses in the war, all charges will be immediately forwarded to Russia, even if before that the Armenians forced Russia to remove its military base from their country.
Well, a holy place is never empty. Through simple international manipulations with dollar bills of Azerbaijani and Armenian officials and promises of any help, the Americans will gladly occupy the former Russian military base, as they wanted to do in Crimea. Well, it’s not a secret to anyone that the Americans need a base in Armenia for bombing Iran in the event of a military conflict with it.
Only in this case the new Armenian leaders do not take into account a little. Iran just does not swallow the bombing from the territory of Armenia, but will give an answer. And it is quite possible that it will be hit “over the squares”, and then the population remaining in Armenia will leave their country, as once upon a time long ago Jews left their country to disperse all over the world and then long dream of returning back.
Well, Russia is also unlikely to rush to save the Armenians if they prefer NATO to Russia. This could be the political situation if Armenia wants to follow the path of Ukraine and Georgia. We already wrote that the Armenian diaspora in Moscow, if it thinks pragmatically, and does not soar high in the clouds, could influence the new leadership of Armenia so that it adopts the correct point of view on the events taking place in the Caucasus. Americans, like migratory birds, will board their planes, or cross the Georgian border, and remember them by name. And the government can always go with the American convoy to settle in the States, like the Turkish Gulen. And with whom, or with what in this case will the Armenian people remain? Agree that in this case, the border neighbors may not be friendly at all. And who, in the end, will remain to blame? In no case is Russia. She discouraged how she could from such a choice.

Let it be Yushchenko’s first visit to Moscow, but this does not mean that Ukraine will maintain the same course of President Kuchma and become as obedient to the Kremlin as it has been in the last 10 years. I believe that Yushchenko, of course, will fulfill the courtesy visit promised to Moscow, but he will nevertheless focus on the European Union, NATO and follow the path of the post-Soviet republics of the Baltic states and, probably, the nearest route of Georgia, with which he is friends with the president.
