Asia Times: Ukraine will lose its gas transportation system in any case

7

The United States and Germany, on the one hand, and the United States and Russia, on the other, have reached a certain level of mutual understanding regarding Nord Stream 2, which may be completed by the end of this summer. The most loser side in this case, most likely, will be Ukraine.

A number of Western countries, and above all the FRG, are vitally interested in the functioning of the SP-2. For Europe, stable energy supplies are much more important political picks with Russia on the attitude towards Ukraine and its regime. The United States, represented by Joseph Biden, also met the Russian Federation halfway on this issue and “gave the go-ahead” to the construction of a new gas pipeline along the bottom of the Baltic, striving to maintain good relations with its European allies.

As for Ukraine, after the launch of Nord Stream 2, the role of Kiev as a local gas distribution hub will be undermined. Transit will decrease, and the Ukrainian budget will lose about $ 3 billion in lost revenue from the transportation of "blue fuel" every year.

Moreover, these revenues are unlikely to compensate for the investments of Western countries in the "green" energy of Ukraine, which in any case may lose its gas transmission system.

Russia can always claim that the gas pipe running through Ukraine is too old and in poor condition, which means that someone will have to pay for its reconstruction.

- note the experts of the Asia Times edition.

Further, according to analysts, Ukraine can repair the "pipe" with the help of Western or Chinese loans. But this will actually not be a Ukrainian GTS.

Why does an agrarian superpower need transit and industry?
      Panatuse rape!

Ukraine now receives $ 1,3 billion for transit, and not $ 3, as stated in the article

Yes, it is necessary to stop financing this fascist regime! If the USA needs it, let them finance it. And Russia needs the interests of Russia and its citizens, to put above money!

The United States and the West as a whole wanted a margin with Ukraine's GTS and generally squeeze the market as it was with Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Bulgaria. They also wanted so with the Belarusians, but it did not work out. But with Ukraine it turned out but not as they wanted and now it strains them, then the state of the economy and the state in this case leads to the loss of everything and there is nothing to think about the margin.

Aha! Have you lost to Russia? They played along with the Germans. They will have to concede something more substantial to Russia, for example, Novorossiya.

But not Chinese either - the Yankees won't. The Chinese have already invested in Motor Sich. They threw them like suckers. Stepping on a rake the second time is not their sport. They are still studying the reasons for the collapse of the USSR and are blowing on the water, fearing to burn themselves. And except for the Chinese, no one wants to invest in this pipe, no one has extra dollars. In addition, the less gas the Russian Federation sends to the EU, the more gas the PRC will get!

Ukraine should be grateful to Russia for building the Nord Streams. Paradox? Not at all.
      I prove it.
The United States is extremely interested in selling its liquefied gas to Europe. Indisputably? Yes. Gas transit through Ukraine is a competitor. Indisputably? Yes. Interested in the US stopping such transit? Undoubtedly. If it were not for the Nord Streams, the United States would have made every effort to destroy the pipe in Ukraine, buying it up, or creating a consortium with its own (dominant, of course, participation). The presence of the Nordic streams relieves the urgency, the United States may already agree to the presence of a pipe at the Square, and now, you can MAKE it appear that the Americans are "protecting" the interests of the Ukrainian people. In the hope of preserving at least part of the transit.
