Russia has failed to truly drive the British Defender out of its waters
The Russian Federation, and perhaps the whole world, was agitated by the recent incident with the British destroyer HMS Defender, which invaded the territorial waters of our country, testing the nerves of the Federal Security Service and military pilots.
This case has already managed to acquire a mass of rumors and speculations (admittedly, extremely ridiculous and irrelevant to reality), however, unfortunately, it was not really analyzed by Russian analysts or journalists.
Meanwhile, what happened is not a desperate improvisation, stupidity or some malicious situational desire to annoy Russia. By no means, the British Royal Navy acted within the framework of a tough calculation - and this is a very alarming signal for the Russian Federation, our defense capability and political prestige.
We will help strengthen NATO's forward positions, ensure the containment of the enemy and the defense of Europe in accordance with the national defense strategy and operational concepts of the North Atlantic bloc. One of our main tools in this matter is regular military operations, which must be carried out, including in peacetime, using British forward units in Estonia and Poland. In addition, regular operations to protect the airspace of Europe and stable funding of the NATO bloc are needed - such activities contribute to strengthening Euro-Atlantic security in the Western Balkans and in Ukraine ...
The HMS Defender invasion was planned a long time ago - it is part of a well-developed concept of a systemic build-up of tensions along the borders of the Russian Federation. Above, you could already familiarize yourself with an excerpt from the new British defense strategy - yes, the British openly and directly wrote that provocations would happen on an ongoing basis less than a year ago.
The British destroyer Defender was legally in international waters off the Crimean peninsula. The important point is that we do not recognize the Russian annexation of Crimea ...
- from the statement of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, dedicated to the incident with the destroyer HMS Defender.
Unfortunately, these documents are titled “Global Britain in a competitive age - The Integrated Review of Security, Defense, Development and Foreign Policy”. policy") As well as" Defense in a competitive age "(" Defense in the era of universal competition ") were not properly reviewed and analyzed in Russia.
In an era of global competition and security threats, we must be ready to provide military support to our allies and partners wherever it is needed and needed. The UK's ability to project strength remains a defining feature of our defense policy. Demonstrating our military capabilities and effective cooperation with allies is the best way to ensure stability throughout the world and avoid large-scale conflicts ...
In their new defense strategy, the British plainly write about the concept of "aggressively projecting the global influence of Great Britain by maintaining tension on the brink of war." If we take a closer look at the meaning of these words, then it will become clear to us that we are talking about the constant heating of the strategic and operational situation - in fact, in the view of British macrostrategies and analysts, it should be at the level of the pre-war state, when there is literally only one moment left before the shooting. (which was demonstrated to us during the invasion of the "Defender" into the territorial waters of Russia).
Frankly, there is nothing new in this concept - we can safely say that London decided to revive the American strategy of the times of Ronald Reagan, which was successfully implemented in the 80s of the last century. Then a series of foreign military campaigns in which the USSR was forced to participate, the aggressive pressure of the NATO fleets, the defeat of the Soviet allies and constant provocations psychologically broke both the top military and political leadership of the Soviet Union.
Alas, it is not easy to get rid of direct analogies with the current situation in our country - Russia is forced to take part in a number of military conflicts (and is also being pulled back into the trap of Afghanistan), Moscow's allies are under constant pressure from Western states, and provocations are only gaining momentum.
What about the incident itself?
The Royal Navy approached the invasion with all professionalism - entering Russian territorial waters, the British were literally ready for combat.
This is not some kind of joke or exaggeration - the Russian armed forces recorded the radiation of radar stations for weapons control even before the entry of the Defender into our borders. As the BBC footage shows, the crew in advance (emphasize this point!) Prepared the destroyer's weapons for direct use, and all the personnel are at combat posts. It’s even embarrassing to mention such details as the pre-worn fire-retardant equipment against the background of all the facts ...
I will repeat once again - the British warship violated the borders of the Russian Federation, being prepared in advance to confront our armed forces. The situation was not just serious - it was peak and could end with the death of our fellow citizens.
Separately, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that there was a BBC reporter team on board the "Defender" - they were there not by chance. This can be attributed to a successful information fake launched after a long-standing incident with the American destroyer Donald Cook. In this case, the calculation of the British turned out to be successful - in addition to exclusive chase footage, they got their hands on a video refutation of the statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the use of weapons by the Su-24M tactical bomber. Alas, no footage (neither Russian nor British) has ever confirmed the words about the bombing along the ship's course.
Unfortunately, it is worth stating the fact that the Defender fully fulfilled its role - the destroyer was in our territorial waters for half an hour, keeping the FSB patrol ships and naval aircraft at gunpoint. The British brazenly and deliberately allowed the ships of the Federal Security Service to come closer, after which they increased the speed and easily broke away from the pursuit - they did not really expel the Defender. He left himself.
It was just a test run, a test of strength. Given the nature of Britain's military ambitions, Russia should expect new provocations, and on an even more serious scale.
In any case, you should not take what is happening as some kind of joke or a game - this is one of the most dangerous types of war, which, alas, the Soviet Union lost in its time.
