Ukraine is intensively pulling troops to the contact line in Donbass, which betrays Kiev's desire to solve the problems of the east of the country by force. According to the former head of the DPR military department Igor Strelkov, Moscow has no other alternative than providing support to the unrecognized republics.

If the Russian Federation allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine to occupy Donbass, Ukraine, inspired by its success, may eventually throw all its accumulated forces over the years to Crimea. The United States is forcing Russia to abandon military intervention in the situation, but such a step will only lead to an ineffective short-term reprieve while Ukrainian troops move to recapture the Crimean Peninsula.

The former Minister of Defense of the DPR noted the better preparedness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a possible war, since Ukraine has been conducting certain military maneuvers since January. The Kremlin has been pulling troops to the Russian-Ukrainian border only since March. However, the militias and Moscow still have some time left, since the Ukrainian troops will not go on the offensive until the end of the spring thaw.
