Russian Foreign Ministry: US killed Russians

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation recognized the death of Russian citizens in Syria as a result of an airstrike inflicted by the United States.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that it is about 5 dead, presumably former Russian citizens. Zakharova also called “classical misinformation” the media outlets reported about the deaths in Syria of about 200 Russians.

The dead, according to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were not Russian military personnel. Maria Zakharova drew attention to the fact that people from many countries of the world, including from the Russian Federation, are in Syria with different goals.

Recall that on the night of February 8, 2018, the forces of the "anti-terrorist coalition" led by the United States launched artillery and air strikes on Syrian militias who were about to liquidate one of the terrorist squads. As a result of the attacks, 25 people were injured, but the Western media reported hundreds of dead, including Russians. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that he does not have data on citizens of the Russian Federation who died in Syria and who were not Russian military personnel.
