An image from China has surfaced on the Web showing the estimated composition of the PLA Navy by the end of 2021. This is how they see their fleet in Beijing.

The planned growth of the Chinese fleet is impressive. By the end of this period, the number of modern surface ships, from corvettes to aircraft carriers, should be 174 units.

It should be noted that this list does not include dozens of ships of earlier projects and ships of the auxiliary class. Attention is drawn to the pace of construction and high-quality technological a leap made by Chinese shipbuilders who are no doubt worthy of respect.

According to Western military experts, in a relatively short period of time, the PLA Navy has moved to second place in the world in terms of its performance, overtaking the Russian Navy and is already "stepping on the heels" of the US Navy.

By the end of 2021, Beijing plans to acquire a third aircraft carrier. To the two existing ones, "Liaoning" (project 001) and "Shandong" (project 001A / 002), one more non-nuclear aircraft carrier will be added (project 003). Its construction has been underway since 2018 at a shipyard in Shanghai. He is supposed to have electromagnetic catapults.

Another helicopter carrier will also appear (project 075). It is a cross between the French "Mistral" type UDC and the American "America" type UDC. Now China has two such ships. A total of eight units are planned to be built.

Production of UDC type "Qinchenshan" (project 071) for the PLA Navy has been discontinued. The Chinese have enough available eight units, a series of which was built and put into operation in the period 2006-2020. Now one such UDC is being manufactured for Thailand.

In 2021, seven more (so far there is one) large missile destroyers (project 055) will appear in the PLA Navy. All of them have already been launched and are in varying degrees of readiness. In NATO, these ships are designated as Renhai-class cruisers.

The number of Kunming-class destroyers in service (project 052D) will increase to 37 units. The Lanzhou-class destroyers (project 052C, 6 units in service) will no longer be built for the Chinese fleet. The PRC also has enough frigates of the Jiangkai URO (pr. 054) - 32 units. Now they are being produced for the Pakistani Navy.

China is a geopolitical enemy of Russia, especially due to its common borders. Rejoice in strengthening your enemy ... well, this ... winked

        I agree.
Unfortunately, many people here consider China an ally (in the absence of any allied agreements), there are phrases like “we are with China”, etc. request

The antidote against such a surface fleet can only be unlimited Yankee submarine warfare. But with the underwater forces, the whales are not particularly ICE.
The Yankees will probably launch their carrier formations with the second echelon ... with stealth and the same means of destruction. But first, the Wolves and Virgins of the last series still have to "work".
      IMHO.

The United States still has more destroyers and AB, so they will be active since the beginning of the conflict at sea.

We need to take not by quantity, but by quality and skill.

The words "discontinued", "enough" look fantastic. We will hardly ever have this.
