What do they think about Russia in Cuba

3
For a long time, Cuba and the Soviet Union were linked by friendly relations. After the collapse of the USSR, the paths of the two states diverged in many ways: the young Russian Federation chose "market" reforms, privatization of state property and "effective managers", and Liberty Island went its own way. Many Russians find it interesting what modern Cubans think about them.

Liberty Island is world famous for its cigars and amateur boxing of the Soviet school. There are more wooden blinds in the window openings than glass windows. Many inhabitants of the island still remember the Russian language. In Soviet times, Russian, or rather, Soviet people, was Cuban's best friend. That's what modern Cubans say about our country.

Christian Torre Montalvo, who makes money riding donkey tourists around the city, knows that Russia is the largest country in the world. He believes that so far our country is standing guard over peace, justice and its native Cuba.

Leah Guerrera Mendes, an intelligent caretaker of the local museum, is familiar with Soviet film classics and loves her very much, for example, she enjoyed watching the film “The Fate of a Man”. She thinks that in modern Russia there still exists a state ideology related to Cuban ideology.

Jorge Ramirez Dominguez, who organizes events, knows that Russia is huge, cold, Santa Claus, but also has great potential for development and wealth.

Cigar seller Juan Leon Rebalda is convinced that Russia is a rich and powerful country with generous people, standing guard over the world.

Seven-year-old Cuban pioneer Lucia Mudarra Rojo recalls the tasty sweets and the cartoon “Bremen Town Musicians” when she says “Russia”.

Street musician Miguel Ocampo Cabeson knows Russians as generous tourists and believes that Russia is the ideal of prosperity that Cuba should strive for.

The sculptor Juan Rodriguez Ormani associates our country with high culture, a terrible cold and big funny earflaps.

Former Cuban military Ernesto Lopez Cruz knows that in Soviet times, Cuba received from the USSR everything it needed in exchange for sugar: for example, petroleum products and machinery. Moreover, Soviet equipment still works properly in Cuban homes. In the house of Cruz, the Polus refrigerator and the Zenit camera still work, and modern Western gadgets break down in the first few years.

An interesting salsa teacher named Ivan Gonzales Guerrero knows that Russian women are the most beautiful. Russia is cold and rich for him, and until now many in Cuba habitually call it the Soviet Union. Many people think that Russia is Cuba’s older sister.

At the words “Soviet Union”, hairdresser Maria Carbayo Villard again recalls the “Bremen Town Musicians”, the abundance of products in stores, the availability of work and a sense of security and confidence in the future.

The representative of the local bohemian Enrique Barroso Madrigal can easily recall the names of Sholokhov, Chaliapin, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. For him, Russia means theaters, culture, Soviet cinema and a rich history.

To summarize the words, you can use the words of the Cuban housewife Luis Moreno Zamora:

I know one thing for sure - thanks to you, we Cubans are alive!

It is interesting that many grandparents think that it is Putin with the liberal economy he cherishes that is the panacea for Russian ills ... fool Remove the blinkers until your eyes pop out. Cuba thinks that having embarked on the capitalist path, the Russian authorities have betrayed not only their people, but also those peoples who went together to build a socialist future. And, believe the bitter experience, capitalism carries far more troubles than condemned socialism. Condemned by all those who were too lazy to work under socialism, to work in the bummer now. I wonder how it turns out that the last car suddenly appears in the head of the train? Yes, you just have to break the stopcock and go in the opposite direction ... belay What is happening now.

Just the Cuban leadership has protected its inhabitants (although there are plenty of their problems) from information about what was happening in our country, which went crazy in the 90s and 2000s ... and even now ...
