Why do Americans go around the house without taking off their shoes
If you watch Hollywood movies and TV shows, you can see that their heroes, being at home, do not take off their street shoes. They walk around the rooms in shoes, sneakers, and even boots. At the same time, they are able to climb with their feet onto the bed, even if there is a light blanket. Moreover, it seems bad for an American to take off his shoes on the doorstep and change into slippers. After all, someone already wore them, and this is unhygienic.
From the point of view of an ordinary Russian, this is some kind of wildness! Is it really difficult to go home to change shoes in slippers? After all, this is how much dirt can be applied, especially if the weather is bad on the street!
But do not rush to conclusions. Perhaps they are not so savage. Maybe they have reasons to act like that.
They hardly walk
The vast majority of US residents do not walk and do not use public transport. Almost all of them are motorists. They walk only a few steps along the street: from the door of the car to the door of the room. This means that their shoes just do not have time to get dirty.
Clean streets
The climate of the average American city is milder than the climate of Central Russia. Therefore, the streets there are drier and cleaner.
And not only so. In America, roads and sidewalks are not only sweeping, but also thoroughly washed with special tools. The cleanliness of the plots in front of their houses is monitored by the owners themselves, and they do it honestly.
Actually, in America, citizens are conscientious and try not to litter on the streets. Even if the American walks the dog, he takes a scoop and a plastic bag with him for a walk, where he collects his pet's waste products. Do you often see this on Russian streets?
And the roads themselves in the United States are not being built in the same way as in Russia. They are usually located higher in level than the curb. At the same time, wind and rain do not allow dirt to accumulate on the road.
And on the roadsides wood chips are scattered, absorbing dirt. Over time, it decomposes and turns into organic fertilizer.
Therefore, even if an American walked down the street, his shoes would likely remain clean.
home furnishings
Unlike an ordinary Russian’s apartment, you rarely see carpets in an American house where dirt could easily accumulate. Usually there is used a floor covering that is easy to clean and wash with a vacuum cleaner. After a certain time, it is simply replaced with a new one.
Of course, I do not urge you to go home shod. It seems to me that slippers are much more convenient and comfortable, and why apply dirt. But it would be nice to adopt some of their habits from the Americans. It even seems to me that this would be patriotic.
Indeed, no one, for example, can blame Peter the Great, who adopted a lot abroad, in the absence of patriotism. Quite the contrary, relying on someone else's experience, he turned Russia into a strong power that the world began to reckon with.
And we would just learn from the Americans how to make our streets as clean as theirs.
