Why do Chinese cars go like hot cakes?

Fifteen years ago, the attitude to the products of the Chinese automobile industry in the world was rather skeptical. Dear English, high-quality German and Japanese cars - it seemed that China's place in the global automotive market could not be called enviable. But the situation has changed.

China has made a colossal economic и technological spurt, becoming one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Firstly, Chinese automobile concerns gained control over a number of well-known and well-known European and Asian brands. Secondly, it was possible to establish the production and assembly of Chinese models proper.

In 2017, the largest Chinese automobile company Geely Group was able to sell more than 1,2 million cars, increasing its sales by 2016% compared to 63. Gradually, the Geely Group not only broke into first place among Chinese automobile corporations, but also took 13th place in the international ranking. This is the undoubted success of the company. By the number of cars sold, the Geely Group is approaching such monsters of the global car market as BMW.

How did China make such a breakthrough? One of the main reasons is the involvement of top-level specialists from around the world by the Chinese auto industry. China has long been inviting high-class scientists, engineers, technicians, and managers from other countries to its work, promising them a competitive salary and good working conditions. As a result, the Geely Group managed to attract the most experienced specialists from such well-known companies as Mazda, Volvo, Renault Samsung Motor. At the same time, Chinese specialists are also preparing, who are taking experience from foreign colleagues and are showing good results.

Until recently, many people rated Chinese products as low-quality, but now, with the development of the automotive industry, requirements for the quality of cars are also growing. On the other hand, the consumer is attracted by the price of Chinese products. Cost-saving considerations are what drive many to buy Chinese cars. For a long time, China has focused on price, which allowed it to win competition with more expensive European and American models and attract consumers from the economy class. Now the automobile companies of the Middle Kingdom are increasingly emphasizing that it is time to compete not only in price but also in quality.

However, the conquest of the world market by Chinese cars is still very, very far.

Firstly, the prestige of the American, European and Japanese auto industry is still very high. Secondly, China has not yet covered its own needs for cars, and for a country with more than 1,3 billion people, there are not so many cars. As for the Russian car market, Chinese cars are also present here, but they are not as popular as domestic, European, Japanese and even Korean cars. For example, in 2017, the Geely Group sold only about 1900 cars in Russia, even being the third among Chinese companies. This is less than Chery (4692 cars in 10 months of 2017) and even less than the leader of the Chinese auto industry in Russia, Lifan, which sold 13 cars in the first ten months of 094.
