For Russian satellites will create a "nuclear battery"

Last year, the state corporation held a competition to develop a domestic replacement of imported power sources for the Russian satellite orbital group.
The competition was won by Aviation Electronics and Communication Systems JSC. By the end of next year, the so-called “atomic battery”, a beta-voltaic power source based on the radioactive isotope of tritium, will be created jointly with Rosatom Corporation and a number of related organizations. Tritium is optimally suited as an energy source due to the relative low cost and soft beta radiation, which does not damage the semiconductor materials used in satellites. The Russian "atomic battery" will be able to provide uninterrupted power for 15 years.
