Serbian footballer Goran Lakovic played both for his homeland and in the teams of the German Bundesliga, and is currently a breeder of one of the Premier League clubs in Moscow. He shared his impressions of Russia and the Russians. An interview with him was published by the Open Russia community.
The athlete, in particular, noted that the Russians are stubborn, motivated for the result. He got this impression after talking with young soccer players who are 16-17 years old. Unlike Europeans, they are able to go “through the wall” in order to achieve their goal.
For comparison, the Serb cited as an example the period of his life when he had to play in Stuttgart. There, in his opinion, the guys did not have any specific task. They always knew what would happen tomorrow. What they will successfully work out, they will retire, which will allow them to travel even to Japan, at least to the same Moscow. But in Russia (as, indeed, in Serbia) there is no such feeling.
However, Goran did not have the most flattering impression about the players of the Russian national team. Their problem is not that there is no talent, but that they, according to him, are “snickering”. A lot of money is spinning in Russian football. A football player can earn two or even three million euros per season, as a result there is no motivation for growth.
But in general, the footballer noted, the Russians are very similar to the Serbs. Unless, they drink a little more.

When sanctions were imposed on Russia in 2014, Europeans first supported them. Like, it is necessary to stop Moscow, otherwise the Russians will suddenly reach Berlin and London.
