The Soyuz MS manned spacecraft, which is a highly modernized version of the Soyuz TMA, was designed to transport 3 crew members and associated cargo to the ISS and back to Earth. In addition, the ship can be used as an emergency ship to rescue the crew of the station.

Externally, the "Union MS" is indistinguishable from its predecessor - the main differences lie in the internal systems. Among the new modifications, an improved power supply system, in the first place, the area and power of solar cells was increased. In addition, the layout and composition of the devices underwent major changes.

According to information from RSC Energia, a spacecraft developer, Soyuz MS is planned to be sent to the ISS without a crew. This is done to test one of the ship’s modifications, namely the motion and navigation control system, in real flight mode. Start-up should take place at the end of summer next year. Prior to this, the launch of an unmanned "Union" was planned for the purpose of testing Technology the return of goods to Earth using transport ships.

Currently, there are already 8 launches behind the new Soyuz, and the next is due to take place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in early June this year. The flight of the ISS-56/57 expedition, in which our compatriot Sergei Prokopyev, ESA representative Alexander Gerst and NASA astronaut Serina Aunyon-Chancellor, will be carried out on the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft
