There are places on planet Earth where all the “charms” of the capitalist system are displayed in a concentrated form, for example, the Ghana landfill country. Or, in due time, the “black city” in Baku.
Nowadays, the city of Chelyabinsk has been sadly famous all over the world not only for a meteorite, but also for the monstrous emissions of industrial enterprises into the air.
The city of Chelyabinsk is a well-known industrial center; since Soviet times, numerous metallurgical and production enterprises have been operating in the city, air emissions are a priori inherent. But there are nuances.
As a result of the "invisible hand of the market" in the city, many enterprises of the industrial sphere were closed. But it was the metallurgical enterprises that remained to work - Mechel, ChEMK, which passed into the hands of the sharks of capitalism. And it was not slow to affect. The main sources of air pollution in Chelyabinsk are ChEMK, Mechel and the ChUK, which owns the Korkinsky open pit. The aerial view of the Korkinsky section is impressive.
At metallurgical enterprises there are filters that limit emissions into urban air. But it is no secret to any Chelyabinsk citizen that metallurgists, for the sake of economy, made emissions for years at night, when the city was asleep. For this reason, when the wind blew from the northeast, opening the window at night was fraught.
This went on for years, but in the last year the situation has deteriorated dramatically. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the filters are expensive and you need to buy them for currency, maybe the oligarchs who own the plants need money to buy another Rolls-Royce in the garage to Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini and other expensive toys, who knows . But the emissions became so massive that since the summer of 2017, Chelyabinsk residents began to choke in the literal sense of the word. Caustic discharges from plants caused coughing and headache. In the summer of 2017, there were many visits to hospitals.
By a strange coincidence, the arrival of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. to the city Putin to meet with President N.A. Nazarbayev’s emissions were stopped and the city air cleared for several days. But immediately after the presidential plane flew off, the gas chamber began to work again.
Have measures been taken by the authorities? Yes, if an imitation of the struggle for ecology can be called a struggle for ecology. Persons calling themselves environmental experts called the “culprits” truck drivers, and the authorities forbade them to enter the city during the NMU (adverse weather conditions). Plus the governor of the region B.A. Dubrovsky proposed to build a metro in the city. Metallurgists, of course, turned out to be innocent.
The hypocrisy of the situation was that 2017 was declared the year of Ecology. Chelyabinsk residents will remember this year of Ecology forever.
And now, has the situation improved? Not at all. Have you ever heard the phrase “black sky mode”? But Chelyabinsk residents hear him constantly. On February 8, 2018, a member of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights arrived in Chelyabinsk, and after a visit to the Korkinsky opencast mine, they called Chelyabinsk “a branch of hell in which you cannot live.”
Also, the Chelyabinsk residents are “inspired” by the plans of the so-called Russian Copper Company (registered in the offshore in Cyprus) to build 15 km from the only and no alternative source of water supply for the million-strong city of Chelyabinsk, the Shershnevsky Reservoir, Tominsky GOK. The fact that this will be for the unfortunate Chelyabinsk and its residents can be read by typing in the search for the words "Tominsky Gok ecological bomb." It is noteworthy that the plans for the construction of Tominsky GOK were supported by the governor of the region B.A. Dubrovsky, who is a visitor to the city.
Anyone who wants to see the results of the economic activities of the capitalists in real time can fly to Chelyabinsk and make his own presentation.
