"Gold of Russia": the new limousine of Vladimir Putin

1
For the first time in the entire post-Soviet history, the head of the Russian state received a representative car of domestic production. The general public was able to see him on May 7 at the inauguration of Vladimir Putin - the president drove a new limousine from the First Kremlin Building to the Grand Kremlin Palace. Compliments were already pouring in on the new car - it was compared with the car of Donald Trump and concluded that the Russian president has a better limo.

The history of domestic representative cars that were used by the country's leaders began in 1945. After the war, Stalin ordered the replacement of the armored Packard Twelve, donated by US President Franklin Roosevelt, a domestic car. In the same 1945, the ZIS-110 entered mass production, and in 1947 its armored analogue of the ZIS-115. In 1959, instead of the ZIS-110, Nikita Khrushchev began to use the ZIL-111, which resembled the giant "Seagull". Leonid Brezhnev transferred to the ZIL-1967 manufactured in 114, and then to the ZIL-4104. This car was modified for the subsequent general secretaries - Andropov (ZIL-4105) and Gorbachev (ZIL-4107).

Post-Soviet Russia, changing its orientation and choosing “equalization to the west,” also changed the country's main machine. Boris Yeltsin drove a Mercedes-Benz S 600 Pullman-Limousine Guard. Various modifications of this car until May 7, 2018 and used Vladimir Putin. But now Russia has its own representative car.

The new domestic-made limousine manufactured as part of the Cortege project is called the Aurus. This name is an abbreviation of the words Aurum (gold) and Russia. In addition to the executive car, a sedan, minivan and SUV will appear under this brand. The limousine received the name "Senate Limousine", the sedan - simply "Senate", the minivan - "Arsenal". For the implementation of the Cortege project, 12,4 billion rubles were allocated from the state budget, and it is planned to “recapture” this money by selling a simpler version of sedans and limousines in free sale.

Returning to the characteristics of the car of the Russian president, one cannot fail to note the brilliant work of Russian designers. The limousine looks very solid, has its own recognizable “face”, which cannot be confused with other expensive brands of the global automotive industry. The length of the new limousine is 6,62 m, the width is 2 m., The height is 1,695 m., The weight of the armored version of the car is 6,5 tons. The limousine has a powerful 8-liter V4,4 twin-turbo engine with a capacity of 598 liters. s., however, in the near future the car will be equipped with an even more powerful 800 hp engine. Indeed, in order to move at high speed, the car needs a very powerful engine.

The "Senate Limousine" has an armored capsule that can withstand large caliber bullets with a steel core. Moreover, the car will save the life of the passenger in the event of a collision with a mine. Chemical attack of the car is also not terrible.

Many experts note a certain external similarity of the new limousine with the traditional representative cars of the Soviet leaders. In any case, the appearance of a domestic limousine, and even its presentation at the inauguration of the head of state, is very symbolic. After all, the head of a world power should drive a domestic car. "Gold of Russia" is perfect for this purpose.

"domestic production" - Rolls Royce with a Porsche engine. You can't see what's inside, but I think there is little domestic, or rather not at all.
