The unique ship “Akademik Ageev” was launched

The day before, a unique first-class research vessel “Akademik Ageev” was launched at the Kanonersky shipyard, built under project 16450 (code “Garage-Guys”). The creation of the craft was carried out by the Pella enterprise in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The development of the aforementioned research ship was launched in 2015. In 2016, the official laying of the vessel under the number 451 took place.



It is worth noting that the first "unofficial" launching of the "Academician Ageev" took place in 2017. Then, apparently, the work was suspended. And only in August 2019 the ship was towed to the Kanonersky shipyard, where they completed its completion and painting. According to some reports, the reason for the relocation was that the Pella enterprise did not have a dock of an appropriate size.

Now, a special-purpose vessel designed for oceanographic research has been officially handed over to the customer and is fully ready to carry out the tasks. As regards the technical characteristics of Academician Ageev, no information is currently available. Throughout the entire production process, virtually no data on the ship was made public.
