Russian astronauts will have to fly on an American ship
In April, in Houston, USA, a meeting was held between representatives of the participating countries of the international lunar mission planned for 2024, where one of its main stages was discussed - the construction of a new space station in lunar orbit.
In total, it is planned to send 4 manned missions to the near-moon station, and the Russian cosmonaut will fly as part of the very first of them. His tasks include installing the gateway module at the new station. The American manned ship Orion will probably be used as the ship, which will become the main ship for the first stages of the Lunar mission, and SLS superheavy rockets will be used as launch vehicles.
The Russian Federation manned spacecraft is not yet ready to begin to perform its functions, so Russia will have to resort to the help of American ships when flying to the moon, until the Federation is ready.
The final mission plan, as well as Russia's role in it, has yet to be approved. Now NASA believes that the final distribution of functions will be possible by the summer of this year.
Obviously, missions like Lunar are too tough for the current Super Powers, therefore, they require the unification of efforts of many countries and organizations, which, on the one hand, is gratifying, but on the other, Russia’s clearly not leading positions in this event look depressing.
