The head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine and the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Batkivshchyna party, Mikhail Volynets, spoke on the Ukrainian television channel ZIK about the real situation with the reserves of "black gold" in the country.
According to him, at present coal reserves at Ukrainian TPPs are 54% less than in the same period last year.
He also noted that if last year’s reserves were in themselves problematic, then this year the situation has become simply disastrous.
The alarm of the Ukrainian parliament is easily explained: Ukrainian thermal power plants in winter may be left without coal, and the population of Ukraine, respectively, without heating.
If you compare in numbers, then in August last year, coal reserves in Ukraine amounted to 1,4 million tons. This year, warehouses have a total of 753 thousand tons.
At the same time, the daily consumption is 49 thousand tons. Burning coal, Ukraine does not have time to replenish its reserves.
In conclusion, I must say that the new Ukrainian authorities will have to try to go through the impending heating season without loss.
