The tests developed in Russia of the promising double-circuit turbofan engine of extra-large thrust PD-35 can begin in 2023. This was reported by the agency the day before. Recall that work on the PD-35 engine, which will become a key element for creating wide-body airliners, began back in 2016. Development is underway by the United Motors Corporation. Unlike previous modifications, this unit allows you to increase traction by 16 tons. In this case, the total thrust on takeoff will be from 33 to 40 tons.

As stated in "UEC - Perm Motors", testing is planned to be carried out in several stages. In 2021, a gas generator will be tested. Then, already in the middle of 2023, tests of the engine itself will begin. For the 2025th, it is planned to conduct tests of the power plant at the flying laboratory, and in 2027 the unit must pass certification.

According to Alexander Inozemtsev, General Designer of UEC-Aviadvigatel, mass production of the domestic thrust engine can be launched in 2028. At the moment, the volume of investments made in the development of a promising power plant amounted to 180 billion Russian rubles.
