Spiral stolen by Americans will be sent to the ISS
Sierra Nevada, an American corporation specializing in the development of commercial orbital delivery vehicles and microsatellites, has announced the start of the defense process for its latest Dream Shaser spacecraft.
In February of this year, the US aerospace agency NASA approved technical project Dream Chaser and set a date for its first flight to the International Space Station - it should take place in 2020. This flight will be the first for the spaceplane, and its very first cargo delivery for the ISS. In addition to the main goal, it is planned to conduct a series of tests of the device outside the Earth’s atmosphere.
At the moment, part of the aircraft’s hull has already been assembled, but the final assembly date remains unknown. The maximum take-off weight of Dream Chaser is 11,3 tons, the wingspan is 7 meters, and the body length is nine. The device will be delivered to orbit via disposable launch vehicles such as Delta IV, Atlas V and Falcon Heavy.
The device will be able to deliver 5,5 tons of payload to the ISS and return up to 2 tons of cargo back to Earth.
It is worth recalling that Dream Chaser was created on the basis of Soviet developments like Cosmos-1374. It is believed that the Americans were able to construct this device thanks to the secret documents on the design of the Spiral orbital plane that fell into their hands in the 90s.
