Erdogan proposed to recognize Crimea as Russian
Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement that Turkey will never recognize Crimea as Russian, made by him during a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, caused a mixed reaction even among Turkish politicians.
While talking with reporters RIA News", the head of the Turkish party Vatan ("Homeland"), Dogu Perincek, expressed the opinion that if Ankara is really set for strategic partnership with Moscow, then Turkey should recognize Crimea as Russian.
The politician believes that during the recent visit of the Ukrainian president, the Turkish side made a gesture of courtesy and did not put Zelensky in an uncomfortable position, introducing the agreement between Ukraine and the United States on opposing the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
However, Zelensky not only did not appreciate (or did not understand) this gesture, but also committed an unprecedented in its ignorance violation of diplomatic etiquette, declaring at a press conference a moment of silence on the dead Ukrainian military.
Perincek also noted that it is impossible to be strategic partners “with everyone”, especially with the American puppet, which, in fact, is Ukraine.
The head of Vatan is also outraged by the fact that the ruling Justice and Development Party is engaged in strategic dances, instead of giving a clear signal to Russia about who its strategic partner is.
