“They called for freedom”: EU responded to mass detentions in Moscow
Recently we Reportedas in Moscow, more than 1 thousand militant participants in an unauthorized rally were detained who violated public order. And so, the representative of the European Foreign Service, Maya Kosyanchich criticized the Russian leadership regarding the detention of "public men", publishing her statement on July 27, 2019.
It should be noted that at the same time, on the EU website there is not a single critical reference to the actions of the French police and the detention of participants in numerous protests of “yellow vests” in France. Also, "vigilant falcons" from the EU did not notice the actions of the police on anti-immigrant marches in Germany.
Therefore, it is not surprising that nobody in the EU was bothered by pieces of asphalt flying in police in the middle of Moscow, tear gas used by “peaceful demonstrators” and other manifestations of “democracy”. The EU felt that protesters in Moscow "called for freedom."
- said in a statement Kosyanchich.
- added Kosyanchich.
It should be added that the authorities of European countries are very concerned about the regional elections in Russia. Moreover, they are so worried that it can be safely called open and cynical interference in the affairs of another state.
For example, on July 26, 2019, the German Embassy in Russia posted a statement on its Twitter account stating that the Russian authorities did not allow many opposition members to vote, after which concern was expressed. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry reacted with lightning speed, pointing out to German diplomats that it was unacceptable to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

More than a thousand peaceful demonstrators, including well-known oppositionists and journalists, were detained in Moscow today. They called for free and democratic elections in Moscow ... These detentions and disproportionate use of force against peaceful demonstrators come after an alarming series of arrests and police raids against opposition politicians and seriously undermine fundamental rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly again
- said in a statement Kosyanchich.
We expect that the authorities of the Russian Federation will respect Russia's commitments within the OSCE and other international commitments in the upcoming local elections
