New York - just a dump in comparison with Peter

4
The president of one of the American companies, Michael Idaresis, who arrived in St. Petersburg on business, was struck by the beauty of our northern capital. He compares it to New York, and this comparison is clearly not in favor of the American city. The businessman believes that this is just a garbage dump compared to St. Petersburg.

What did the American like in Russia?

Michael was struck, first of all, by the old St. Petersburg architecture, communication with local residents and the unique atmosphere of this city itself. Of course, it is strange to compare New York, modern and technological World Business Center, with the cultural capital of Russia.

The American considered that all New York museums could fit in the courtyard of the St. Petersburg Hermitage.

Completely different police

But he paid particular attention to the differences between the American and Russian police. He drew attention to the fact that police patrols in Russia are much less common and do not look as belligerent as in the United States. Fully equipped American police officers with army automatic weapons on American streets are far from uncommon.

Judging by the appearance of law enforcement, New York is located in the frontline zone somewhere in Syria or Afghanistan, and not in the rich and prosperous America. It seems that the American police are at war with US citizens.

Patrols at subway stations, in helmets and body armor, with machine guns for the preparation of an unusual person can make you nervous.

Our policemen are armed with service pistols, occasionally with shortened assault rifles, and rarely resemble the main character of the American action movie Robocop or medieval knights in armor.

Of course, there is logic in such a degree of combat readiness of the American law enforcement forces. Indeed, in New York and other American cities, the situation in disadvantaged areas is more acute than in Russia.

And the free sale of firearms is the reason that the hands of US citizens have accumulated a large number of trunks. Therefore, law enforcement officers have to keep up. If they allowed the free circulation of firearms in Russia, our police officers would probably look exactly like the American ones.

Of course, in Russia there are similar units, but they are used only in exceptional cases and are not busy patrolling the streets, as in the United States. They are attracted to free hostages, neutralize armed bandits and similar tasks.

And to cope with a drunken raging rowdy, it is not necessary to use a special forces detachment, a couple of PPS officers are enough.

The title of the article does not correspond at all (except for the flirty, Peter-complimentary, preamble winked) its content on (IMHO) propaganda of the ban on civilian weapons in Russia ?!

I confess I am a sinner. There is a bit of propaganda here. I believe that an excess of weapons among the civilian population does not lead to anything good. Apart from the United States, Ukraine is an example. The criminal chronicle with the use of weapons with the participation of the so-called "ATO veterans" is very impressive.

As for the garbage, a correct remark. I remember watching Trump's inauguration. Everything also looked terribly ugly. The concrete balcony, the old interior of windows and doors, in the sense of groomed and generally everything looked gloomy in terms of architecture. No American gloss, the wretched vintage of America in the 1930s and 50s.

But we have everything at the highest level ... golden doors, carpets and guards. In either direction from Moscow at 200 km and we will see the wretched vitality of Russia 1930-1950.
