"Like a fool in his shorts in the police": Navalny complains about his detention
In the morning, July 24, 2019, the police detained the scandalous opposition blogger Alexei Navalny, in Moscow, near his house. The activist "public activist" was outraged that he was detained on the birthday of his wife, and even in shorts he was taken to the police station. At the same time, he did not specify why the law enforcement officers wanted to talk with him and that he was absolutely not confused by the appearance when he went out into the street.
- Navalny said about the "tyranny of the bloody regime" in his video directly from the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Danilovsky district of Moscow.
After that, Navalny’s lawyer, Olga Mikhailova, clarified to the public that her client was detained for repeated violation of the rules for holding street rallies. That is, Navalny violated Part 8 of Art. 20.2 Administrative Code "Violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a meeting, rally, demonstration, procession or picket."
Most likely, the question concerns the uncoordinated event scheduled for July 27, 2019, to which Navalny invites his supporters. This is an action in support of candidates to the Moscow City Duma, which had previously been denied registration due to various violations committed by them.
The truth is that sport is sometimes harmful. I went out of the house to run and buy my wife flowers; today is her birthday. Near the entrance there was a small bus with riot police, and they detained me. Now, like a fool, in my underpants I’m in the police station
